I’m a 26 (soon to be 27) year old full time mum of 3 ‘full of beans children’…
MAYHEM: 3 (soon to be 4) year old – very energetic, kind hearted, boisterous not-so- little boy
MISCHEIF: 19 month old cheeky, loud, adventurous little girl
MONKEY: 6 week old beautiful, chilled out, happy baby boy.
With home-schooling on our mind I have decided that the time has come for me to swing into action and begin on our journey…
The legal age requirement for children to attend school in NZ is 6, so I figure a year to get the ball rolling- try new things, build up our resources, find like-minded people etc.
Then at age 5 – when most kids start their schooling here, I will hopefully have the confidence to label it our “first official home-educating year”.
By age 6- review how things are going and make the decision to continue with this way of educating- or look at other options.
This blog is just a way for me to keep record of what we are doing, when we’re doing it and to re-evaluate when necessary.
I’m interested in alternative education- although I got my teaching degree before I had our first son- I am very intrigued with the idea of natural learning/ un-schooling… so part of my plan is to have outings/ activities for us to do throughout the week which stay flexible and will be planned based on what my kids are interested in at the time..
Each day I will record our adventures for the day and give suitable links to learning where/ when it happens. I hope you enjoy following our journey and please feel free to share any feedback or ideas you have that may help us on our way.
This is our journey- Our Everyday Education…
